Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d, E13 TV-L, 100%)

The University of Tübingen is one of Europe’s oldest universities, well
respected for its international, innovative and interdisciplinary
research and teaching. In recent years, the university has been very
successful in the German federal and state governments’ Excellence
Initiative. The Department of Sociology, Chair for Microsociology
Professor Pia Schober, is seeking a

Postdoctoral Researcher
(German public sector pay scheme E13 TV-L, 100%)
for the duration of 3 years with possible extension to begin in October
2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful applicant will work on the research project "Parental
gender socialization across diverse families: Interdependencies with sex
hormones, family processes and socio-political context" funded by the
German Research Foundation. At the same time, the position also offers
the possibility for independent research and requires teaching of one
course each term in English or German. The Chair of Microsociology
offers a friendly, constructive, and international research and teaching
environment.

Requirements

Candidates are expected to have an excellent academic background, hold a
Ph.D. in sociology or related social science disciplines and have
research and teaching interests in family sociology or a related field.
Particularly relevant research fields include:

gender and social inequalities across the life course
intergenerational transmission processes within families
work-family balance and family policy

Candidates should have experience in applying advanced quantitative
methods, in particular longitudinal data analysis. Excellent English
language skills are required and German language skills are desirable.
We expect candidates to demonstrate very good writing and presentation
skills, evidence of personal engagement, ability to work autonomously,
and a team-oriented and cooperative working style.
